Why It Matters

This marks Claremont’s first Juneteenth Freedom Festival—an opportunity to strengthen public life by honoring a history which belongs to all of us. In a city shaped by diverse communities and the presence of the Claremont Colleges, this gathering creates space to increase access, deepen understanding, and share responsibility in recognizing Black history, resilience, and joy as essential to our collective community.

Participate in the parade! Build a wagon, bike, or stroller float!

Community parade will occur as part of the opening ceremonies for the community softball games. Participants are encouraged to decorate their non-electric floats with Juneteenth designs to honor this national celebration!
